Misty Palms-Coorg-Terelu Village

Image
Bringing in 2011 at Misty Palms, Coorg ( located in Terelu Village, South Coorg, at the foot of Brahmagirihills) It wasn't supposed to be this way. We had been promised a home stay within a coffee estate, a fishing trip and most importantly complete seclusion from the banalities of city life. Gypped by Spen who had the nerve to actually offer us ice cubes in a chembu (small pot) for use over the new year celebrations, what we got was a house on the main road between Hunsur and Gonikoppa. We refused! city slickers we maybe, idiots? certainly not! We worked the phones and found a home stay in Virajpet for a day. If it wasn't for the fact the place had already been booked for new year's eve, we would have continued to stay there. Working the phones again we found Misty Palms. Ravi who manages the place initially assured us rooms, but backtracked later and offered one room for the five of us! and the word 'adjustment' kept surfacing through out the conversation. He als...

LG Optimus One (P500) Bangalore

Image
Yes! After a long wait i finally got my hands on the LG Optimus One (P500) here in Bangalore. It is available at Univercell and Sangeetha for Rupees 13, 200/-. Apparently it's available on Flipkart for INR 13, 000/-, (just in) it's available at Landmark for 12,800/- My previous phone, the one that i'm gleefully abandoning, was the Linux based Motorola Rokr E6. Good phone, sure, but with age (three years is the equivalent of 75 in the cellphone world i would think) the systems were flagging and the battery was definitely dying. So, the leapfrog to Android 2.2 or FroYo based Optimus One First the cons - No Camera button. No Flash - Night/Low Light Shots with the 3.0 MP camera is pointless - Day shots look like below - Not very responsive screen (capacitive). Sometimes takes couple of attempts to launch an app - No "Swype" for text input. LG (not recommended) & Android Keyboards - Poor sound (same speaker for conversation and music!!!) - The bundled manual is rep...

Entrepreneur At Large

Yep! That's me. If you've seen the way that i've literally expanded since college, Infy's growth can't hold a candle to my efforts. But that's not what i want to talk about, with this post i intend to chronicle my efforts at being an entrepreneur. I've been an entrepreneur since 2006. The plunge was easy to take. You quit your job in disgust and say to yourself, i can do a better job than that idiot, what is the big deal anyway eh? with the blustering confidence and a small lump in the the bank and throat i set off to conquer the world, egged on and supported by friends and family. It began well, friends helped us find our first few clients, for whom we offered to polish their writing. We started with the services listed here...www.wordz.in I'm feeling a bit queasy now, will an investor at some point in the future read this and decide my fate based on this post? should i reveal all?

Bangalore Autorickshaw Complaint Process

Yes!, All of us at some point have wanted to tear our hair out in frustration at the rude, insensitive, over priced, moody, rule breaking behaviour of auto drivers in Bangalore. Below is the system for registering complaints, got this via an email forward The System Note the vehicle number (KA-XX-YY-ZZZZ) and email the details to transcom@kar.nic.in , Based on the prefix XX (for example KA-01), complaint will be sent to one of the ten RTO offices in Bangalore and adjacent taluk areas. Bangalore Traffic - Life Lessons

1) Size Does Matter, The bigger you are you have the greater opportunity and sometimes the assumed right to push every other smaller automobile out of your way. Having KSRTC, BMTC on the outsides or i-am- an-idiot-and-i-don't-care driver on the inside off course helps matters enormously 2) Speed does not matter Yes, splurging all that money on the fastest transport you can get! wasted, completely. Whether it has 2, 4 or 16 wheels the fastest you can go within the city is very slow/hour 3) Rules don't matter To a lot of people and therefore if you do like and follow them you are at constant risk of injury. ironical but yeah. 4) Money does matter You can get away with murder if you have enough and are willing to make payments in cash. 5) Skills do matter If you can call a cabbie's manouvering madness that! but it's evident that they and their brothers in arms the autorickshaw drivers have fathomed the chaos and devised a plan, everyone else be damned!

Mafia Wars - Advanced Strategies & Techniques

1) To Level Up Faster: Use a combination of fighting and "jobbing" to level up faster. Use skill points wisely and ideally to increase your stamina and energy. Health, Attack, Defense are increased automatically when you grow your mafia as well as when you vault collections. Experience Points : Three ways to get experience points 1) Do Jobs. Check to see which jobs offer more experience. The ratio of energy cost to experience points gained is currently in favour of "Moscow" jobs. 2) Fight. Attack as many fellow players as possible. Dont get iced though. 3) Help with wars and jobs. Helping other players is actually useful because you get both money as well as xp 2) To increase your defense : Currently the combination of a gaff hook, camouflaged armor and jet plane seems to be everybody's favourite as the best form of defense, acquire as many of them as you can. Add more Mafia members (don't have enough friends who play?) just post your requirement at the v...
